Attention mobile home owners:  Mobile homes 1976 and older must still be registered at the Director of Equalization Office in the Country Courthouse during the month of January.

Wakpala Local District meeting for January 9, 2006 has been Re-scheduled for Monday, January 23, at 7:00 PM CT.

Former Mobridge High School graduate Summer Anderberg has recently qualified to compete in a nationwide talent competition called "Talent Rock - Summer Fest", happening in Orlando, Florida from May 27th through the 29th.  Summer is the daughter or Tom and Wendy Anderberg of Mobridge, and is one of 400 individuals who've qualified for the singing and dancing category of the competition.  Now Summer hopes to raise about $4,000 to cover expenses for the trip to Florida in May.  If you'd like to help Summer with her expenses, donations can be mailed to Summer Anderberg at 721 9th Avenue West, Mobridge SD 57601 or call Summer at 845-3702.

All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship.  The local competition will be held Saturday, January 14th at Parkview Auditorium in Ft. Pierre, with registration at 8:30am CST and competition beginning at 9:00am CST.  The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually with winners progressing through local, district, and state competition.  For entry forms or additional information contact either Steve Leber at 224-0874 or Gaylon Gerber at 224-9990.

Each year, the Legislature honors the memory of legislators who have passed away during the previous year.  This year's service is scheduled for Thursday, January 19th at 3:00pm in the House Chamber.  The committee in charge of the arrangements would appreciate receiving the names of former state senators and representatives who passed away during 2005.  Please contact the Legislative Research Council at 500 East Capitol, Pierre SD 57501 or call 773-3251 or email Lou.Adamson@state.sd.us.

Are you or someone you know expecting a baby?  Growing Up Together is pleased to announce their Late Pregnancy Prenatal Courses.  The Late Pregnancy Class is designed to meet the needs of parents-to-be.  The focus of the course is to help prepare expectant parents for childbirth.  Topics covered will include nutrition, birth planning, progression of labor, relaxation breathing and other relaxation techniques for helping laboring moms cope during labor.  The next Late Pregnancy Prenatal class begins January 12th and runs for five consecutive weeks on Thursday evenings.  The dates of the class are January 12th, 19th, 26th, February 2nd and 9th.  the class is offered from 7:00pm to 9:15pm at St. Mary's Hospital in the Fifth Floor Conference Room.  The cost is $40.  Scholarships are available.  To register for this class, please call Growing Up Together at 224-3189.

The 18th Annual Juell Johnson Jazz Festival sponsored by the Short Grass Arts Council will take place on Sunday, February 12th at 4:00pm.  Musical acts are being sought for the 2006 Jazz Festival.  Interested parties are asked to contact the Short Grass Arts Council at 222-0189 of via email at sgac@iw.net for more information.

There is a new display on loan to the SD National Guard Museum during this years Legislative Session.  It is a replica of the B-29 Bomber "Enola Gay."  This customized Superfortress airplane dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima May 6th, 1945 and virtually ended WWII.  It was piloted by then Colonel Paul Tibbets.  The piece is personally autographed on the base by General Tibbets.  Only 3,000 replicas are available worldwide.  The Air Force gave the Enola Gay to the Smithsonian Institution in 1949 and it is now on proud display in the new National Air and Space Museum outside.  The replica is made available for display by Sherman Parrot of Pierre by purchase from the Danbury Mint.

Growing Up Together is pleased to announce the Infant Child Massage Class will be starting Saturday, January 14th from 10 am - 11:30 am at St. Mary's HealthCare Center, Fifth Floor Conference Room.  The class will run for three consecutive Saturdays - January 14th, 21st and 28th.  Please call 224-3189 to register.  Cost is $20.  Whether your baby is a newborn or several years old, it is never too late to begin massage.  The classes are designed especially for mothers, fathers, grandparents and primary care givers of infants, toddlers and children.  Scholarships are available.

Notice to Mobridge Residents: All vehicles (Including boats, trailers and campers) parked on any city street, must be removed 24 hours after the city snow plow has passed.
